The classes are structured so that each term you will build on the training that you have received in the previous term and will also learn some new skills.

Puppy and Companion Dog 1

In puppy class and CD1 you will learn how to teach your dog to:

• walk comfortably next to you on a loose lead
• respond to hand signals and verbal commands
• sit and lie down on command
• come when called so you can reattach its lead
• give up a toy on command
• refuse food placed in front until told to eat
• ignore a friendly stranger

Companion Dog 2

In CD2, in addition to extending on the above training, you will learn how to teach your dog to

• go away on command
• come when called and end with a finish
• stand on command
• stand or sit calmly while being brushed
• ignore a friendly stranger and dog

CLASS TIMETABLE

Classes are held on a Wednesday night at Melville Park, unless advised otherwise.

Fees are currently $55.00 per term plus $20.00 club membership

Please note that by joining the Hamilton Dog Obedience Club it is assumed that you have agreed that any photos taken of you and your dog participating in training can be used in material advertising the HDOC or on the HDOC Website and /or HDOC Facebook page. If you do not wish your images to be used, please advise the HDOC Secretary in writing.
